Why are you losing your hair?

Most men lose their hair due to male pattern baldness. Just like any other gene you inherit, it can come from anyone above you in the family tree, thanks Grandpa Bob! It comes from an over production of a testosterone called DHT, yes you are that masculine. DHT is the shortened version of Dihydrotestosterone.

In a nutshell this over production of DHT builds up in your hair follicle damaging the hair at the root until it falls out. It then goes into an extended state of resting (Telogen Phase). If it stays in that state for more than 3 years, the follicle will likely be dead and then only option is surgery. Basically, we want it out of the Telogen Phase and back into a healthy Anagen Phase (when it’s growing).

Does Regrow work?

Yes absolutely, so long as you get it early enough. Prevention and early intervention is absolutely key here. We use scientifically proven, natural active ingredients, and you can read about them here. As a guide, if your follicle goes into rest mode for longer than 3 years, then that follicle will now be unable to grow back on its own no matter what you use. This is of course a rough guide as some follicles will last longer, and sadly some less.

Sometimes with extreme and quick hair loss you may need to use a combination of Regrow products and medical products.

If you have bald shiny patches, this is a sign that the follicle may have died (except in alopecia). You may need to look to a transplant surgeon for this. Why is my hair falling out?

Firstly, you aren’t alone, up to 70% of men (and a surprising 80% of women) will experience hair loss in their lifetime! Plus, it can start as young as 13! But don’t worry, we’ve got your back, they say knowledge is power, and we are here to inform.

On the whole, there are a lot of reasons why your hair is falling out, but it all comes down to two main factors for most men:

DHT and poor blood circulation to the hair follicles.

DHT

Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is made from testosterone by an enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase (5AR) which latches onto the base of your follicle and constantly grows. As it grows, your follicle shrinks, eventually making the hair fall out. Regrow aims to stunt the growth of DHT by using high-grade Saw Palmetto and Caffeine which are known DHT blockers. Poor Circulation

What is Androgenetic Alopecia?

Or should I say, what is male pattern baldness? Male pattern baldness is the most common form of hair loss in men and it occurs gradually over time. Hair is lost in a well-defined area, starting above temples and from fringe to crown, overtime receding in an ‘M’ shape at the front of the hair line. This can lead to partial or complete baldness, this is fine if you look like The Rock, Vin Diesel or Jason Stratham, but not all of us can pull this look off. What is Traction Alopecia?

The causes of traction alopecia are generally caused by everyday strains on the hair, such as wearing hard hats (told you that you were macho), tying hair back too tight, heavy dreadlocks or harsh chemicals used for styling the hair. This constant damage and pulling on the hair follicle weaken it. If left too long, it can damage the follicle to the point of no return. However, if you act quickly, you can reverse these effects by getting circulation back to the damaged follicle. Regrow can help with this by using oxygenated rainwater and products such as Niacinamide (B3) and Biotin (B7) in high purity. These are specifically designed to generate more blood flow directly to the scalp without you having to take harmful medication.

What is Telogen Effluvium?

This is a rapid shedding of hair caused by major stress in the body such as surgery or rapid weight loss. You may want to have a chat to your doctor just to make sure everything is ok if your hair is coming out really fast. Once diagnosed properly, this is considered a temporary condition and only comes after the body receives some kind of shock to the system. What is Anagen Effluvium?

Not to be confused with Telogen Effluvium, it can also a rapid shedding of hair however it is during the growth cycle (Anagen). This can happen due to medications such as chemotherapy or other drugs, toxins, radiation or to individuals with an autoimmune disease. Basically, anything that causes a disruption with the cell division in your hair making the hair narrower at the base and more likely to break or fall out. Whilst under medical treatment, such as chemotherapy, Anagen Effluvium can’t be fixed however the hair should start to grow back between 3 to 6 months after finishing.
